Tiananmen Documentary

Valérie Nichols recommends an excellent documentary on Tianmen, produced by Al Jazeera, a network which remains little known in North America. Twenty-five minutes long, in two parts, available here. Great interviews with the leaders of the movement--Wuer Kaixi and Han Dongfang, among others--and with Western China-Watchers such as Jan Wong (journalist for the Globe and Mail) and Perry Link (Professor of Chinese literature at Princeton University). The tone is nuanced, the images arresting, the editing brilliant. Watch it.
